Volunteer members of Somali Bantu who organized themselves to bridge the gap and facilitate appropriate service delivery mechanism for Somali Bantu people founded (BAFAW) in 2005.

Bantu American Friendship Association (BAFAW) partners with key organizations and groups to implement services and initiatives that promote the successful integration of Somali Bantu and their families into the American society. Using its community mobilization and outreach capacity.

Bantu American Friendship Association (BAFAW) engages youth and their families and offers them culturally sensitive services in the areas of leadership, settlement, recreation, employment support, awareness raising and referrals.

One of the primary objectives of Bantu American Friendship Association (BAFAW) is to preserve the culture and values of Somali Bantu newcomers who have made the decision to settle in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Other objectives include: Unity and co-operation among all members of the Somali Bantu community; encouragement of academic excellence; participation in national and international other organizations and activities; and to assist in Somali Bantu employment, training, immigration and other social services.

With these objectives in mind, the Board of Directors of Bantu American Friendship Association (BAFAW) and its’ many volunteers have been delivering appropriate and suitable programs for our community since it was founded.

Our Vision here is to empower Somali Bantu youth and their families to improve the quality of their lives through programs and services that address their needs.
